This illustration showing King Solomon and his beloved is inspired by a verse from Song of Songs (Chapter 4; Verse 1) "Behold, thou art fair, my love, behold, thou art fair, thou hast dove's eyes within thy locks". Tamar has successfully tried to capture the essence of this verse which describes the pure and innocent love between the couple depicted in this scene. The doves sitting on the branch above the loving couple metaphorically describe this untainted love. (12" x 24")
