Sweet Shelter honors the Jewish community of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. The composition is based on the artist's interpretation of an embroidered wall hanging from a Jewish home dating from the 19th century Sarajevo. The original embroidery is on display at the Orthodox Synagogue Museum of the historic old town Sarajevo. This romantic composition draws the viewer back in time to when the Jewish community found shelter in Sarajevo from the expulsion of 1492.
