This ketubah is an artistic representation of a garden as described in the Song of Songs. The arch that graces the text of the ketubah is symbolic of the chuppah that the bride and groom stand under at their wedding. At the same time, the arches are symbolic of the old city of Jerusalem-part of the heritage of Jewish couples for centuries. The verse in the arch is from the Song of Songs and is the source for the well known "Ani L'Dodi V'Dodi Li". The border, done in the style of illuminated manuscripts, represents the garden of this verse. The pomegranate is a symbol of fertility and the grapes figure prominently in Jewish tradition. There are sayings from Song of Songs in Hebrew and English around the very outside border.
