The mosaics inspiring this ketubah include those at Beit Alpha in northern Israel, Masada, and Hammath Tiberias synagogue, all dating back prior to the 6th century. The quote at the bottom of the ketubah is a common wedding verse that reads: "Still can be heard in the cities of Judah and the outskirts of Jerusalem, the voice of joy and the voice of gladness." Symbols within the mosaic include pomegranates (a symbol of fertility) and olive branches. The landscape at the top of the ketubah shows two olive trees growing together with Jerusalem in the background. The lower trunks form the Hebrew letter "shin," the holy designation commonly found on a mezuzzah.
