Stephanie Caplan has always had a passion for art and design and is inspired by the words of William Morris, “have nothing in your house which you do not know to be beautiful or believe to be useful…” Stephanie grew up in Montreal, Canada and Newton, Massachusetts, going to Solomon Schechter day schools in each place. She went to Camp Ramah and spent her junior year of college in Jerusalem. She studied comparative religion and art history at Barnard college. She later lived in London, studying weaving, textiles and calligraphy. Calligraphy has become her main focus in the craft of making a Ketubah, making her Ketubot feel even more special since done by hand. Stephanie lives and work in the East village of New York City.
Her prints started life as watercolor paintings, each with a story behind them, the texts are in her own Hebrew and English calligraphy. They are all personalized by Stephanie at her studio, by hand, in matching lettering & color. The texts have dark brown lettering. The prints are available as limited editions, each is signed & numbered and printed on archival paper.
